Session A · Non-technical

Build a Skill

Turn a real, recurring task into a reusable AI skill - tool-agnostic, no coding.

For programme, ops, admin, HR, procurement and finance - mixed confidence welcome.

Build-a-Skill - Session Folder

The hands-on, no-code session of Innovation Day. Participants turn one real, repeated task into a reusable AI “Skill” - a one-page recipe they paste into any chatbot to get a dependable result every time.

Who it’s for

Programme managers, operations, admin, HR, procurement, and finance staff - non-technical, mixed confidence. No coding, no installs, no setup. If you can use a web chatbot (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude - whichever you have) and you do the same task most weeks, this session is for you.

This runs in parallel with the technical spec-first-build session - different room, same five ways of working.

How to run it

For participants:

  1. Read the participant-one-pager.md.
  2. Skim the ways-of-working-cheatsheet.md - three habits, that’s the whole posture.
  3. Pick one real task you do most weeks (smaller is better).
  4. Copy the SKILL-template.md and fill it top to bottom - write the Output section before the prompt.
  5. Practise on your own anonymised sample, or borrow one from sample-data/.
  6. Find one thing the AI got wrong and fix it. Save the Skill where your team will reuse it.
  7. Fill in your monday-commitment-card.md before you leave.

For facilitators: timing cues, scoring, and troubleshooting live in the facilitator guide.
